I started seeing the doctors right away and made appointments regularly because I was pregnant. I remember one visit. I said to the lady sitting next to me" I feel kicking up here and way down there" and she said she did too. I was pregnant from my head to my toe. The doctor and the whole hospital in Subic Bay was saying I was going to have a very big baby. My mother came to stay with me while I was pregnant and she stayed in an area off the kitchen which was kinda private and tucked away from everyone else. Sometimes we saw whole families of monkeys crossing the road on the way to the hospital. They were very cute. On April 27 until the wee hours of April 28, 1977 I had contractions and because I took natural childbirth classes I didnt have to have too many drugs. At around 4 am in the morning, I pushed and pushed with Dad being my helper and Nathanial was born. I was so happy to have it all over with. But then the doctor came back and said to me" I think there is another baby in there" and he told Dad that he might have to leave. When the doctor said there might be another baby in there, I just looked up at Phil and he looked down at me on the table and I felt like I was in a dream. That this cant be happening to me. Well, it was happening. They placed a very long needle inside of me and popped another water bag, and I started having contractions all over again. For 20 minutes, I had labor pains. This baby was coming and they didnt have time to change him all around and he was born breech. I gave birth to him without ceasarian (I am glad they did not know otherwise it is hospital policy to have it done) Baby number 2, now known as Anthony Sterling Thomas, was born and they took him over to the table and began working on him. His chest was compressed and it took about 5 minutes to get him to breath. But he was a healthy baby and he started to breath. I was in shock by now about everything. Well, identical twin boys. That's what I had. We fooled the hospital! So, the 2 great names we had chosen for our child was given to our twins. Nathanial Preston and Anthony Sterling Thomas. Dad was so elated he could barely contain himself. Something this grand had never happened to him before. 2 sons at once. How many people can claim that! When he arrived home in the morning and walked into the house my Mom couldnt wait to ask him all about it. She wanted to know what we had. Dad said" we have our son and as a matter of fact, WE HAVE 2 SONS. He was walking on a cloud. Everything that we had bought for the baby we had to buy another set. We bought another crib, another everything. And so we added to our family because Dad already had 2 girls from his previous marriage and I had 1 girl from my previous marriage. So these new additions made it 5 children all together between the two of us. God had blessed our little family. Oh, I forgot to add something. Dad had a vasectomy in Napa at the Dr.s while we were dating, and then when we decided to be married, he went to Eureka and had a Vasdeferenz. (reversal) When we wrote to the Dr. about the twins along with our announcement, the Dr wrote back and said he knew he had good material to begin with but he didnt know it was that good. LOL
