ELEPHANT ROUND UP - SURIN THAILAND

In 1978 while we lived at Subic Bay Naval Base Philippines, Dad and I went on a trip to Singapore, Thailand, Panang Island, Kuala Lumper, Malayasia, and Bangkok. I was at the time pregnant with Glen. We were gone for about 1 full week. I never did that again.  I missed the boys too much and that was way too long to be gone from my kids. Plus being pregnant isnt so hot when you are traveling around like we were. Anyway, one of the side tours we did was ride a train to Surin, Thailand to see the Elephant round up. It was very interesting. They had some young elephants there and they played baseball with each other. It was funny. There was a tug of war between the elephants and all the men. Lots of hooting and hollering going on. After the show, Dad even got on one of the elephants. I dont know what happened to that picture but I remember taking one. Dad was very attentive to me. Most of the time we were on a tour bus and I needed to go pee just about every 20 minutes. Many many times the bus driver would go off into the side roads trying to find me a bathroom. He knew of alot of places. At one point, I must have gotten sick because the next thing I knew they put me in a hospital to give me fluids. Now mind you this was in a foreign country. Dad did not leave my side even over night. He did not want anyone stealing me away. He just spent the night sleeping in a chair right by my bed. What a guy!
