Mark Geiser passed away from cancer. He was the husband of 30 plus years to Julie Thomas, Russ's daughter. It has been a sad year for Julie. They have 2 grown children. We are all deeply saddened by the news about Mark Geiser. The funeral services will be this Saturday JULY 31, 2010 at 12pm. at 10200 Fairway Drive, Kelseyville.
The services were full of people Mark knew and loved. They gave him a military salute, 4 gun salute, folded the American flag for Julie and played TAPS for him. He was quite honored there.
Mark Merrill Geiser was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 31, 1954. A few years later his parents moved the family to Milpitas California, where Mark and his brothers Gary and Jeff grew up and went to school. Mark enjoyed being in the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts. Although known by his parents as the good boy, he was known to his friends and brothers as a tease and a trouble maker. He worked cutting apricots in the summer of 1966, and to this day would not eat apricots! When he came of age, Mark joined the Army, and was stationed in Fort Ord, Hunter Leggett, and Vilscek, Germany. During his leave in 1975 he traveled Europe with his brother Jeff. In June 1975 Mark came home and married Julie a year later. He soon got a job at X-Ray engineering, and bought a house in Hayward after his daughter Erin was born in 1977. Almost two years later his son, Mark II was born. The family moved to San Ramon in 1989 where Mark worked for PG&E. He became interested in making home-brewed beer, and was a real brew master! Brewing continued to be his main hobby for years. He also spent his weekends gardening, landscaping, and spending time with his family. Mark moved to Lake County in 1994 and worked long hours out of town. He was a workaholic. Mark returned to Europe through his work as a consultant with PG&E. Mark's sense of humor was awkward and unforgettable, but most of the time raunchy. He was always makiing us laugh with his potty mouth and making funny hats out of random objects. Mark died of cancer. We will miss him.
December 10, 2010: An update to this story. Marks wife Julie took her own life this December 9, 2010 because of the grief of losing her husband Mark. We will miss her and will pray for her.
